# What is EnergyBox?

A tool developed over several years within Arup, EnergyBox (EB) is used to efficiently create geometry for further use in a variety of simulation workflows.

In its current form EB enables the “tracing” of 2D underlays (typically imported PDF or DWG files) for the rapid creation of simulation compatible 3D geometry. This is done in Rhino with the aid of an intuitive user interface to guide a user’s steps.

Once geometry creation is complete, this geometry can be exported to a number of simulation tools/formats or used further in Rhino, using Grasshopper scripts.
