# Installation

To make the use of EnergyBox as simple and frictionless as possible, the installation has been simplified through the use of two different installers (opens new window) :

  • EnergyBox_UI.rhi – to install the EnergyBox toolbar in Rhino;
  • EnergyBox_dependencies.exe – to install all the Grasshopper plugins necessary for the tool to work properly.

Warning:

You can proceed with the installation if you are connected to an Arup network or to the Arup VPN.

During installation Rhino must be closed; you can open it once the installation of the two installers is complete.

# EnergyBox_UI.rhi

Once open, select “Just Me”, and click next.

Installation should complete automatically, and you can close the installer thereafter.

# EnergyBox_dependencies.exe

Upon opening the installer, you have to decide which plugins you need to install:

4

If you have freshly installed Rhino - or have not previously installed Plugins – choose “Full installation” and click on next.

Alternatively, if you already have some of the plugins installed, you can opt for:

  • Compact installation – which will install only the EnergyBox script, and no other plugins, or
  • Custom installation – where you can manually select which plugins you want installed¹.

Continue following the prompts, select the "Install only for me" option, and then close the installer.

¹ Please note that Ladybug and Honeybee are only necessary for the “Export to GBXML” functionality. If you don’t intend to use this functionality, you can opt to uncheck these plugins.
